Clothing Chameleon? Who We Are - How We Got Started....Welcome to Clothing Chameleon! I (Rita) am the proud owner of Clothing Chameleon, formerly R.Chameleon.
We recently changed our name to Clothing Chameleon after thousands of such responses: “R what?”. Yes, I admit, R.Chameleon is a difficult name to not only remember, but have it roll of the tongue easily. When the company was born in 2005, I had just left my job as a Clothing Buyer for a major discount department store chain (hint…Dress For Less). I have been in the fashion industry my whole adult life. I was a buyer at one of the most prestigious stores in the U.S. (starts with an N and ends with an M). My goal was to combine the skills I learned from a company devoted to customer service and quality, with a company that focuses on brand names at discount prices. At the ripe age of 42, I decided to do it my way…I wanted beautiful styles from my favorite designers, but didn’t want to pay the exorbitant prices. I also didn’t want to spend hours in discount stores in search of one great item. I wanted the treasure without the hunt…and Clothing Chameleon was born! Many, if not most, discount department stores are able to get extremely cheap prices by buying blindly. The buyers will go out and look at a general ‘lot’, or ‘pallet’ of merchandise, and pay one price to ‘take all’. The ‘take all’ concepts includes the good, the bad, and the ugly (as I’m sure every one of you has witnessed at a discount store). The concept is to force the customer to hunt for the treasure. At Clothing Chameleon, I take the hunt out of ‘treasure hunt’. I pay a premium to personally hand pick EVERY single item you’ll see in our retail store (R. Chameleon - 353 Main Street El Segundo, Ca) and online store www.ClothingChameleon.com. At Clothing Chameleon, I do not buy blindly by buying trailers of pallets of random merchandise at cheap prices. I pay top dollar for only the best of the best from high-end department store inventories. I search for beautiful styles from Michael Stars, BCBG Max Azria, Ella Moss, James Perse, True Religion, C&C California, Lucky Brand, Free People, Ralph Lauren, Anne Klein, Michael Kors, Guess, I.N.C. International Concepts (Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s private label brand), Vera Wang, Theory, Elie Tahari, Calvin Klein, Paige and so much more!
